"One Year" Back to the Comic
"One Year" explores the ability for comics to disorient the viewer. The disorientation comes from the title. Without it, the two identical panels could be seconds apart. With it, the story suddenly is grounded in taking place over exactly one year. Additionally, the clock on the desk shows the real, current time. The image also changes based on the time of day. This real time aspect, if noticed, makes the viewer feel more a part of the story and perhaps study it longer than he or she normally would.
