"Life With(out) Coffee" Back to the Comic
Coffee is an important part of a balanced caffeine addict's diet. Without it the day drags on eternally. With it the world is just a little bit less awful than it would be without it.
"Life With(out) Coffee" takes a very simple concept for a comic strip, and then pushes the experience to the next level through animation. While a static background would have conveyed the same joke, the fast scrolling provides an additional experience, while still maintaining the integrity of the comic strip format (as opposed to full animation.) While the piece seems visually complex because of the bright colors and motion, it is in fact comprised of just two images, the background and the frame with the character:
The scrolling effect is a modified version of the code found at Spritely.net Their plugin allows for more advanced controls than just scrolling, which I hope to explore in the future to further the comic strip format.
